CBD Topical Benefits
When CBD products hit the market I became very curious about it’s effects on the skin and it’s topical use for certain health issues. There are studies still being done on the possible benefits so it can be very confusing to navigate with all the products flooding the retail market.
The first product I purchased was a salve, which I purchased at my favorite clean beauty store in NYC.
CBD, or Cannabidiol, is a natural chemical compound found in the cannabis plants (hemp). It does not give you the effects of a high and is a legal supplement infused into products and food.
CBD typically in known to treat skin conditions, such as, eczema, psoriasis and acne, because of it’s ant-inflammatory effects. It helps reduce the production of sebum, dryness and free radical damage. Due to the free radical benefits it will help with fine lines and wrinkles and fight against the effects of aging. It can also guard against environmental pollution. When used topically on joints it can also help with arthritis symptoms, such as, pain or inflammation.
It is not just for humans, it also works well and is safe for animals.
It can be found in so many skincare products; cleansers, moisturizers, serums, oils, lip products and salves. But, most are not approved by the FDA. So be wary and vigilante when choosing products. It is best to study products and labels for what you are looking for first, before making a purchase.
These are some known side effects to watch out for, nausea, fatigue and irritability or any irritations where products were applied.
